Project Dignity for All Update (Tuesday, May 28, 2019)
Like most everyone, we had a really busy long weekend, followed by an equally busy week. The week before, we had decided it would be beneficial to order a portable, stainless steel garment rack, on which we could use hangers to display the various items of donated clothing, instead of placing them in a bag. This would make colours and sizes much more visible, so individuals can pick out things in their size, which they themselves like! This will give everyone more of a shopping feel, rather than just a hand-out. It is important to be able to have some choice in which items of clothing one would like to have! As soon as the rack was delivered, we were excited to put it together. It is really quite long and extends even longer on both sides. It is also very portable and only takes a few minutes to put together. In addition to the rack, we also purchased 250 hangers. Out guest room now also serves as our Project Dignity “warehouse” lol! We can sort and hang things by size and gender, using the whole closet, along with using the rack. It will now be so much easier to keep things organized and ready to go for outreach days.
On Wednesday, May 22nd, my daughter Katrina came over after work to donate some of her precious time to our cause. After a quick dinner, we had the chance to spend some time together and chat, while at the same time getting some much-needed work done. We spent a number of hours sorting through donations in anticipation of our next outreach venture. Thank you so much for helping out sweetie! Our Outreach # 8 is planned for Saturday, June 1, 2019. We are hoping to be at the Salvation Army by approximately 10:30 AM. If anyone wants to come out and join us for a coffee and a chat, you are more than welcome!
I have realized that it is really important to stay on top of the sorting because you never know when more donations are going to come in! On that note, we have a number of wonderful people whom we want to thank for their most generous donations these past few weeks. A big thank you goes out to our good neighbours Sharon and Earl, Francois, as well as Jacob, who between them donated a large amount of wonderful clothing. Thank you also to Beau’s co-workers Lilianna and Hussein, who also donated some great clothing items. All of your donations are so much appreciated and will go directly to those who need them the most!
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Without all of you, we couldn’t do what we do!!
