Project Dignity for All (Update: Tuesday, June 11/19)
It has definitely been quieter this past week, since our last outreach. Outreach # 8 was such a success, that it has left us with hardly any men’s clothing. We were down to 3 golf shirts, 4 pairs of shorts, and a pair of socks! Thanks to the generous donation from my best friend Sue and family, we have a few more items to add to the men’s, including a few hoodies, and a few spring jackets. Thank you so much for your support, my dear friend. It really means so much to us, to be able to pass these items on to someone who could really use it!
We still have quite a large amount of women’s clothing, thanks partly still from Cindy’s generous donation, and also due to another very generous donation of women’s clothing from Beau’s co-worker Allan and family. We really appreciate all of the wonderful items, including a blanket, sweater, jeans, skorts, leggings, shorts, blouse, t-shirts, tank tops, bras, and socks. All of these items will be given directly to those who need them the most. We know that your donation will make a difference for a number of people and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
On Wednesday, June 5/19, my youngest daughter Katrina came over again, donating some of your valuable time to help sort through some more of the women’s clothing. We sorted jeans, capris, and shorts by size, as well as t-shirts and various spring/summer jackets. Thank you so much again, sweetie, for all of your help! It was great spending some time with you! On Friday, I went through and sorted Allan’s donations. The only thing left now, is to sort through two final garbage bags full of women’s shorts and tank tops, which I plan on doing tomorrow evening.
We are still hoping on going on our Outreach # 9 on Saturday, June 15, 2019, weather permitting. The long-range forecast at this point does not look promising, with rain being forecasted for both Saturday and Sunday! It really does not make any sense for us to go out when it is raining, as all the clothing and everything else would just get wet, as we do everything out in the open without any cover! If it does indeed rain on both days, we will postpone for the next Saturday, June 22, 2019. In that case, we would have a whole extra week to hopefully gather some clean, gently used men’s clothing and footwear in all sizes, and in season!! We have no more room to store fall and winter items! We need jeans, pants, shorts, t-shirts, tanks, hoodies, spring/summer jackets, runners, sandals, belts, boxers/underwear, and socks! If you only have a few items to give, you are more than welcome to come to join us for coffee during our outreach. You can add your items to the rack, or hand them out directly to someone that wears the same size. Come and meet some of the people that benefit from your donations.
We as a community of caring individuals can do so much if we join together in our effort. We can and will make a difference!
We again thank all of you for each and every donation! Without all of you, we could not do what we do!
