PROJECT DIGNITY FOR ALL/LATEST UPDATE (Tuesday, December 31, 2019)

We hope that everyone had a wonderful, joyful Christmas filled with good times spent with loved ones! Beau and I certainly had a most enjoyable time spent with our family. It has been fairly slow on the donation front these past few weeks, understandably during the hectic pre-Xmas frenzy! We do have a few people that deserve a huge thank you.  Thank you so much, Corina, for donating a bag full of winter boots. A huge thank you also goes out to Carol, who donated four great carrying bags and a few pairs of gloves, Bags of all sizes are always in demand, because most of these fellows carry their meager possessions with them wherever they go. Often all they have are thin plastic shopping bags, so a gym bag, packsack, or other good-sized bags really come in handy for them. Thanks again, Carol. A few days ago we did a pick-up from a sweet young lady named Jessica, who donated a bag full of women’s clothing, including sports bras, multiple pairs of socks, tuques, scarves, sweaters, cardigan, hoodie, sweatshirt, flannel shirt, jeans, and a Senators jersey.

These items will definitely be going directly to those who need them the most, and will certainly help keep a number of people warmer! We want to thank all of you for your kindness, generousity, and believing in Project Dignity! It certainly means the world to us, and keeps us going from week to week.

At the moment we really need “men’s” items, such as coats, warm clothing, tuques, mitts and most importantly we need “men’s” winter boots in all sizes, especially some of the larger sizes (11,12,13). It is so difficult when the fellows ask if we have warm footwear in a specific size, and we have to say, “No, unfortunately, we haven’t had any donations in that size. Maybe we will have some during our next outreach in two weeks”! We do see many individuals out there with just worn out runners or loafers on their feet in this cold and snowy weather! Our next outreach (#22) is planned for this Saturday, January 4, 2019. We should be arriving in front of the Salvation Army by 10:30 AM, and welcome anyone who would like to join us for a coffee and chat. Donations can also be dropped off then between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. We also do pickups anywhere in the Ottawa area. Just email us or contact us through Facebook messenger.

We want to thank each and every one of you for any and all donations. Without all of you, we couldn’t do what we do!

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year filled with health, happiness, prosperity, success, and most of all, LOVE!
