We have had a wonderfully busy past few weeks on the donation front, having received multiple donations from eight different individuals/families. We want to say a huge, straight from the heart thank you to every one of you for your generousity and kindness! It means so much to us to receive this kind of on-going support for Project Dignity that we have witnessed time and time again. I will now give a breakdown of all of these wonderful donations we have received. First, our eldest daughter Tiffany and her husband Alan donated a bag full of men’s clothing, including sweats, pants, long underwear, t-shirts, and multiple pairs of boxers. Our good friend and neighbour Sharon arranged for some donations from a few of her friends. She passed on one bag of women’s clothing, flannel shirts, and a coat from her friend Jill, and size eleven men’s winter boots from Diane and Ken. Sharon also dropped off a large batch (65) of freshly baked cookies on the night before our last outreach, which I also mentioned in last week’s update. The cookies were enjoyed and appreciated by everyone who tasted them! Our dear neighbour Nicole, who has already donated a number of times, again gave us a donation of mainly men’s clothing, including three pairs of winter boots, two new winter jackets, a winter vest, multiple pairs of new socks, multiple sweatpants & PJ pants, long underwear, undershirts, and t-shirts. Our good friends Liz and Steve passed donated four large garbage bags full of women and men’s items, as well as a number of bed linens and blankets. There were items such as tanks, t-shirts, long-sleeve t’s, sports pants, PJ pants, socks, scarves, slippers, and 9 warm blankets. I know that the blankets will definitely help a number of people stay warmer in this cold winter weather! The other bed linens (sheets sets) will be passed on, as they are not a much-needed item on the streets.

Beau’s co-worker Carol passed on a large bag of clothing, including two men’s winter jackets, multiple sports pants, T-shirts, turtleneck, pants, thick warm sweatshirts, dress shirts, long-sleeve t’s, socks, scarf, neck warmer, boxers, five new tuques, four pairs of ski gloves, four bras, a purse, backpack, and four pairs of sunglasses! On Tuesday, January 7th, we had an anonymous donation hanging in a paper bag on our mailbox, containing a pair of jeans and a winter ski vest. My best friend Sue organized a donation from her co-worker and dropped off a bag that contained two hoodies, a plaid shirt, long-sleeve T’s, and a cardigan. Beau’s co-worker and friend Martin donated two dress shirts, and last but not least, my high school friend Laurie, donated six beautiful, hand-knitted scarves.

All of these items will be handed out to those vulnerable individuals who really need them the most! We always hear such positive feedback about how much all the donations are needed and appreciated by the fellows we are all helping together! We want to thank you all again for helping us to achieve our goal of consistently going out for outreach every two weeks. You are all such amazing members of the Project Dignity family. Together we are making a difference!
Our next outreach (#23) is planned for this Saturday, January 18th, weather permitting. There is the possibility of another snowstorm this weekend, so we will be monitoring the situation closely. Everything got so wet the on-going snow that came down during our last outreach that it took a long time for everything to dry out properly! We have decided that it is better to postpone the outreach either to the next day, or the next weekend if the weather is bad outside! We will definitely keep you posted. We wish everyone a wonderful rest of the week and the weekend.
We want to thank each and every one of you for any and all donations. Without all of you, we couldn’t do what we do!
