As you are aware, we had to postpone last Saturday’s outreach because of the large accumulation of snow still on the sidewalks, as well as the extreme cold (-30 with the wind-chill)! Setting up the table and the clothing rack in these conditions is not really possible, and the colder it is, the more likely the guys have found refuge somewhere from the freezing temperatures, either at the library or a mall, etc. We are hoping for better weather this weekend.
Since last Tuesday’s update, we have received donations from two great guys.
We want to say a big thank you to Beau’s good friend and co-worker, Martin, who donated a large bag full of men’s clothing, including jeans, khakis, dress pants, shorts, short sleeve shirts, multiple dress shirts, and a sports shirt.
Another huge thank you goes to another one of Beau’s good friends and co-workers, Hussein, who generously donated two full bags of men’s and women’s items.
There were 7 pairs of jeans, 10 dress pants, 4 casual pants, 7 ball caps, 14 T-shirts, 2 sports jerseys, 4 scarves, 3 tuques, a golf shirt, rain jacket, sports pants, boxer, 3 backpacks, 1 sports bag, and a fleece blanket. Thank you both again for your kindness and generousity. These are all great items, and will be going directly to those who really need them the most! Items such as backpacks, any other kind of bags, and blankets are always needed and often asked for!
Our next Outreach # 24 is planned for this Saturday, February 15, 2020. We should be arriving in front of the Salvation Army on George St by 10:30 AM. Anyone wanting to join us for a coffee/hot chocolate and chat is more than welcome. Donations can also be dropped off directly to us during our time there. We also do pick-ups anywhere in the Ottawa area. Just email us or contact us through Facebook messenger to arrange a convenient day and time. We are still in great need of men’s warm winter clothing, including jackets/coats, snow-pants, tuques/hats, gloves/mitts, and boots!!!
