PROJECT DIGNITY LATEST OUTREACH # 3

PROJECT DIGNITY LATEST OUTREACH # 3

On Saturday, Mar 23rd, Beau and I embarked on our third outreach venture downtown. As we didn’t have many donated items left, we decided we would hand out coffees instead. Although the sun was shining brightly that day, the wind was extremely cold and nipped at our faces as we were walking about! We went to Tim Horton’s and bought 2 large boxes of coffee, which came with a whole bunch of creamers, milk,  packets of sugar and sweetener. We wanted to give out as many hot coffees as possible, so we picked up a few packages of small disposable coffee cups to use instead of the overly large Timmies cups.

We started at the Salvation Army, where everyone was happy and appreciative for a little warmth on a cold day. A number of individuals gladly had seconds. We stayed for about 45 minutes and enjoyed chatting with a number of wonderful individuals! Once we said our goodbyes,  we continued on our walk towards the Shepherds of Good Hope, where again we shared a little warmth, conversation and caring! In the end, we had shared over fifty coffees. It was definitely a successful day!
Once we arrived back at home, we discussed the idea of purchasing a portable, 100 cup capacity coffee urn, to bring down some of our costs. So far, every purchase we have made for Project Dignity for All has been from our own pockets, so we have to make wise choices to keep costs as low as possible. We look forward to having the urn delivered in time to use for our next outreach date!
